  1. Looks like you have a good start on your apples.
I don't know why but I haven't had much luck with apples
and haven't decided if I am up for trying again.
Do you have a variety you like.

The face in the log looks like a koala bear.

I am trying to figure out what to do for a Hen House.
Been looking around on Craig's List for one as a starter.

  2. Jake,The apple tree in the photo is a grafted espalier. It has 6 different varieties of apple.
My favorite and very old fashioned apples are the Gravensteins, green, sweet tart and excellent for cooking or canning. The down sides to these are they do not keep so you must grab them quick in August (one of the few early apples) and not many farmers grow them any more.

Have you been on The City Chicken website (see side bar)? Katy is a friend of mine and is my go to person for chicken info. Her web page has lots of ideas for coops. Our coop here was made all from recycled wood and is based on the houses of early Sweden. But our first one was one ugly boxy but efficient coop. The coops for sale are over priced, look around for ideas before you buy.Let us know if you need any guidance.

  3. Looks like things have dried out and that a lot of your garden has survived. Hooray!
